When it comes to ABCs, 123s, and shapes, there are so many fun ways to learn. Sweet Themes has come up with some sweet ways to help set the scene for a positive learning environment.

Before you launch into education mode with the kids, you first need to ensure you have all of the right tools in place so that your kitchen classroom is ready. Sweet Themes has several products you might need, from quality stainless steel cookie cutters to chocolate molds, edible paints and even alphabet stencils.

Supplies

Play-doh―you can buy it ready-made from most stores, or make it yourself and with the range of colours and sizes, there will be something to suit your project.

Paper―whatever colour or size you want.

Coloured pencils, crayons or markers.

Learning activities

Now we get to the fun stuff…what can we do with all of the supplies we have ready?

Cookies
Using the ABC cookie cutters, make a batch of cookie dough and cut out all of the letters, making sure you have extra cookies for A, E, I, O and U. You can use the cookies to create simple words, and if you spell it correctly… bonus at the end of the session, you have an automatic treat.

Cookie cutters
You can actually use the cookie cutters themselves to spell out words, trace around the shapes/letters on paper, or use shape cutters to make special fairy bread sandwiches and lunch treats.

PlayDoh
What kid doesn’t love Playdoh? There is something magical about the smell too. You can use all of the baking tools to roll out the PlayDoh, and using the cookie cutters you can cut out your favourite letters and numbers to practice spelling and counting.
