The unique and stunning animals that we have in Australia are the inspiration behind our creations. We feature rare bird species such as the Forty-Spotted Pardalote, our popular Superb Fairy Wrens, a gorgeous duo of Swamp Wallabies, our iconic Koala, Scarlet Robins, and a dear friend from our home-state, the Tasmanian Devil.
Through our work we also aim to raise awareness of the risk of extinction that some of our beautiful species face. Our Orange-Bellied Parrot has the saddening honour of being one of the world’s rarest and endangered species. The iconic Tasmanian Devil was declared endangered in the late 1990’s due to the devastating Facial Tumour Disease which is spreading through Tasmania’s wild devil population. Recovery programs and captive breeding programs are in place, and we wish to do what we can to support the survival of these beautiful creatures. Like all Australians and so many people from all over the world, we have been saddened by the loss of over one billion Australian animals including koalas, kangaroos, wombats and kookaburras with the recent summer bushfire devastation, and are compelled to do what we can to help them recover. Since January, we have been donating a percentage of our retail sales to WWF’s Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund and we will continue to do so throughout the year.
Featuring the artwork of two Australian creatives Pamela Skromanis and Lucinda Brash, we also proudly support local social enterprises and community groups by sourcing materials and producing as much as possible in Australia. Our core products are proudly accredited as ‘Australian Made’.
Using soft pastel, pencil, pen, watercolour and precision, Pam’s work is derived from photographic images and is winning awards in her native Tasmania for her life-like work. Largely self-taught, Pam has attended the University of Third Age (U3A) and continues to participate in other local art classes and community groups to share, learn and continue to fine-tune her skills.
A love of animals, birds and the environment provide the inspiration for Lucinda’s 3-dimensional and 2-dimensional artwork. Through her art, Lucinda likes to explore and promote the special connection between humans and other animals. Renowned for her sculptures in mixed media, and with a special love for working with clay and bronze, Lucinda also enjoys celebrating our unique Australian wildlife in 2D with paintings in water colour, ink, acrylic and oil.
