New gift distributor brings overseas brands to Aussie market
Gift distributor, Curated Group, has launched as the exclusive Australian supplier of an extensive international brand portfolio.
Before heading to market in February this year, the Curated team went on a whirlwind week-long trip to trade fairs in New York, London and Frankfurt looking for unique brands and products to bring to the Australian market.
The result is a range of giftware, stationery, homewares and magazines from Temerity Jones, j-me, Mustard, Formes Berlin, Pop Chart Lab, Bluw, Ginger Fox, Silly Socks, Wrap Stationery, Handsome Men’s Skincare and Curated Print Distribution.
Curated sales director, Tara Barnes, says the company’s brand portfolio has been carefully selected, ensuring it stays true to its aim of offering retailers products with a point of difference that aren’t already available in Australia.
“Inspired by design, we distribute eclectic, functional products that don’t take themselves too seriously,” she explains. “There’s a lot out there, so we aim to curate a coherent stable of design-led products, making it simple for retailers to stock their shelves with unique items that their customers will love.”
The company consists of a small team with various backgrounds in the industry, including Barnes. Managing director Vali Valibhoy currently owns and operates magazine and gift store Mag Nation, and other members of the team have experience in wholesale, retail and publishing.
After debuting at Life Instyle—where Barnes says several retailers commented on the unique product range—Curated is working on expanding both its customers and brands. “We’re currently focusing on growing our customer base by aligning ourselves with likeminded retailers who share our love of design.
“We’re also continuing to scour the globe for brands that aren’t represented in Australia and bracing ourselves for the madness of the silly season.”
