This winter jump into bed with one of Australia’s most iconic designers. The Florence Broadhurst autumn/winter 2016 bedlinen collection has just been released and it has some of her most inspirational designs that will be sure to bring a warm glow to the coldest of bedrooms.
In keeping with our current love affair with all shades blue, this new collection includes Birds of Paradise Denim and Florence Indigo―both featuring moodier, deeper blues that create a hint of drama and an ambience of warmth and luxury.
Birds of Paradise Denim draws on Broadhurst’s experiences living and working in Asia, featuring a whimsical design of exotic birds and oriental flowers. Recoloured in denim blue with white, the quilt cover has a contrasting reverse in a delicate geometric, Octagonal Blue. Matching European pillowcases and square cushions have been beautifully textured in soft quilting for a luxurious contrast.
Florence Indigo showcases two of Broadhurst’s most stunning designs―Arabian Birds and Florence Tapestry. The interplay of the two patterns creates balance and harmony on the quilt cover’s front while the reverse, in the intricate Arabian Birds, perfectly captures the current design crush for fine detail. The deep blue flange on quilt cover, pillowcases and cushion adds a sense of sophistication and elegance to the look.
For a bold statement Circles and Squares, the classic combination of Broadhurst’s much loved oriental geometric forms, delivers in spades. The bold monochromatic design in a charcoal and white chenille jacquard is contrasted with the clean, beautifully delicate Chinese Silver Key pattern on its reverse. A clever addition to the Circles and Squares design is a matching bed runner, which adds a dramatic visual element to a plain white or charcoal quilt cover.
For a quieter, more reflective mood the new Floral Mink in wintery shades of warm greys on a white ground imbibe the bedroom with a contemplative, soothing vibe. A classic floral print, this new rendition incorporates a subtle ombre transition from light to dark shades of mink with a quilting overlay that enhances the detail of the pattern while adding indulgent texture. The quilt cover reverse is Broadhurst’s Antique Lattice in solid mink for a beautiful visual contrast.
