Is leather furniture enjoying a resurgence of popularity? The variety of leathers incorporated into modern furniture has become quite extensive.
Buffalo hide having been dyed yet left unprotected in sofas and deep armchairs is the newest addition to Vavoom’s vast range. Retailing from $2,299 to $6,679 the soft, smooth seating is very comfortable and a move away from Italian hand aged leather.
The classic Chesterfield leather sofa, purportedly named after nobility―the Earl of Chesterfield―still attracts customers absorbed in its antiquity and classical buttoned effect and low back. Retails for $3,752.
The African inspired leather plaited dining armchairs (with arm rests) come with a circular teak timber base which allows both alfresco and indoor dining, and a white plaited leather seat and back. Punto armchair retails for $699. The style resonates well with Hampton decor and can replicate as an office chair and even become a comfortable occasional chair.
The flying men and their machines are not forgotten in this rebirth of leather. Aviator design furniture has undergone a brand-new resplendent design with smooth aerodynamic lines of modern and classic aircraft. The chairs sport a direct contrast of smooth vintage leather with a panelled aluminium or real copper frame. Some have the 360 degree rotating action. Retail for $670 each. The chair designs have progressed to also include a cocoon style chair or capsule, imitative of capsule hotels in Japan.
Industrial design stools have also created a plethora of leather seat designs with its no nonsense heavy metal structures. Jefferson leather high back stool retails for $477.
