Inspired by a nation going through change and by the people living that change, Wonki Ware opened a pottery studio 18 years ago in the small town of George, in the heart of the beautiful Garden Route of South Africa.
Over time, these products began to set trends in South Africa, in design and art. Today, Wonki Ware is globally recognised and appreciated, evolving into a highly sought after collection of exclusive dinner and serve ware. Timeless, vibrant products that are organically shaped, each item being 100 per cent handmade and totally unique―no less than 15 different individuals are part of the process of every piece that is created.
By providing work for 80 previously unemployed people, Wonki Ware has promoted social upliftment in the community, where each object has played a vital role in changing the lives of the artisans that made them.
