J Style’s Subaru ceramic range takes its name from the cluster of stars known to Japanese astronomers as Subaru. In Europe it is known as The Pleiades or in Greek Mythology, the Seven Sisters. Australian Aboriginal songlines also tell stories of Seven Napaljarri Sisters who fled up into the stars.
The Subaru range of ceramics is glazed by hand in a deep blue indigo glaze with swirls of stars reminiscent of far-off galaxies. The outer and base of the bowls and plates is an impenetrable deep blue, almost black glaze, while the inside is a swirl of stars.
Subaru is available in a range of bowls and plate sizes to suit a variety of dining styles. Plates and platters come in sizes from the smallest 12.5cm plates perfect for condiments, desserts or small tapas, through to 19.4cm side plates and 25.5cm large platters or dinner plates. Bowls are designed for noodles, soups, stir fries and salads and range from smaller soba noodle bowls to deep udon style bowls, large ramen bowls and a stunning 24.5cm men bowl for the most impressive dinner table.
