Annabel Trends supplies mittens for fire affected koalas
Following the recent tragic SA bush fires and call for help, leading Queensland based wholesaler Annabel Trends has literally put its best paws forward to help koalas that have been affected by the fires.
Following a callout from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) for mittens to help protect sore and healing koala paws, the team at Annabel Trends stepped up and made over 100 brightly coloured pairs for the cause.
“We saw a post on Facebook from IFAW and one of my staff members asked if we could help,” says managing director Sally Dunn. “We jumped right in since we had the resources to make it happen.
“We donated mittens for the koalas to help their burnt paws heal, after getting burnt in the fires in South Australia. The mittens were warmly received and will make for some extra colourful wildlife.”
While these mittens were a one-off for Annabel Trends, Dunn says if anyone needed some they would be happy to make them.
“We have already had a customer ask for some on Facebook for their dog. It’s something to think about.”
Annabel Trends has a soft spot for animals with the company donating to many animal charities including the RSPCA, Edgars Mission, and Make it Possible – Animals Australia. “We often respond to callouts e.g. leads and collars to RSPCA when demand is high.”
