As part of the new Janod toys being launched this year, the new Essentials educational range has a particular focus on STEM. It has been co-developed in France by Janod and pre-school specialists to introduce educational concepts in a simple and fun way.

This makes them a great resource not only at home, but for kindergartens, child care centres and schools. These multi-faceted toys provide extensive learning opportunities and play value.

The Janod Essentials Volumes is a wooden tray with nine water painted coloured block shapes and non-skid silicon feet for better stability. There are three learning benefits with this toy―a puzzle to develop shapes and colour recognition, a pyramid function by stacking the cubes and learn about sizes by placing smaller blocks inside the larger ones.

Janod Essentials Learn to Count is the learning of simple math concepts using colour coded segmented blocks of different sizes. The wooden tray with silicon feet comes with 14 water painted solid wooden blocks.  By following the double-sided instruction cards, you can count and add your way through the cards to learn basic maths operations. It also includes benefits to fine motor skills with the use of manipulation and stability.

Another favourite is Janod Essentials Weights; fundamental learning at its best. It allows the comparison of different weights and how that affects balance with simple maths concepts to promote logical thinking and problem solving. The 16 solid beech wood magnetic blocks are all water-painted while the magnets in the balancing base create stability and ease of use for little hands.

Others in the Janod Essentials range focus on learning outcomes for colours, simple fractions, shapes and telling the time.
