Hong Kong Gifts & Premium and Housewares Fair go digital in July
Due to ongoing travel restrictions for overseas visitors, HKTDC has decided to move its July trade fairs to a virtual platform.
As part of its anti-pandemic measures, the Hong Kong SAR government announced early June that the compulsory 14-day quarantine of persons arriving in Hong Kong from overseas will be extended until 18 September.
The extension of this restriction means that overseas exhibitors and buyers will have great difficulty joining the Summer Sourcing Week in July including Hong Kong Gifts & Premium and the Housewares Fair.
“Despite the global pandemic, sourcing demand is strong and industry players are eager to join the Summer Sourcing Week,” the HKTDC says in a statement.
“The fair has already attracted some 2,000 global exhibitors and more than 10,000 international buyers. We believe that the Summer Sourcing Weeks丨Go ONLINE is going to help buyers and suppliers to alleviate business challenges, while the online business matching service will create even more opportunities for participants.”
The Summer Sourcing Week includes nine fairs which were originally scheduled from April to May this year. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the nine fairs were combined and rescheduled to 25 to 28 July. They include HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Spring Edition), HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Spring Edition), HKTDC International ICT Expo, HKTDC Hong Kong Houseware Fair, HKTDC Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week, HKTDC Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair, Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair and HKTDC Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair.
“We would like to express our gratitude to exhibitors, pavilion organisers, industry associations and buyers from around the world for their tremendous support for HKTDC events. We will make every effort to provide the industry with the same effective trading platform online and continue to help companies capture business opportunities through multiple channels.”
The Summer Sourcing Week will run from 27 July to 7 August. Event details will be announced in due course.
