In focus at Life Instyle: sustainable, ethical & eco-friendly brands
Life Instyle is set to return to Melbourne from 3 to 6 August and this year there is a particular focus on sustainable and ethically manufactured businesses and their products, something that today’s consumer is increasingly demanding.
Amongst the 335 brands that will be exhibiting at the show, there is a plethora of brands that implement sustainable, ethical and eco-friendly practices into their sourcing and manufacturing processes. Here’s a sneak peek at some of this year’s eco-friendly innovative exhibitors:
Alf the Label
Designed to transition adulthood to parenthood without compromising style for functionality, Alf the Label elevates the standard for upscale bags and parenting accessories. Loved all over the world, Alf will be the first parenting brand to walk the NYFW runway, truly bridging the gap between practical parenting and ready-to-wear fashion.
Texcoco Collective
Texcoco Collective is an eco-luxe handbag brand committed to conscious design, environmental conservation and thoughtful consumption. The brand offers a range of vegan leather handbags. It’s one of few sustainable Australian labels that works with Mexican artisans and skilled workers to craft vegan bags made from Mexican cactus leather, actively helping to turn the tide on wasteful practices.
Sun Soul Australia
Inspired by the sun, sky and sea, Sun Soul jewellery is ethically crafted from precious materials and is perfect for year round gifting as well as being a popular impulse purchase due to the variety of styles available and affordable pricing. Each piece in the collection is a wardrobe staple, a timeless fashion accessory and a precious keepsake. Designed in Australia, Sun Soul is made to be worn layered.
Cub & Fox
The ‘Magic Canvas’ is proving incredibly popular with parents, gift givers (and most importantly) kids. Cub & Fox is a new Melbourne based family business on a mission to help more kids engage in creative play (and less screens). How do they do that? By offering unique and exciting products that allow messy play, without the mess. Products that parents love to buy and kids love to use.
Mini & Me
Celebrate the little loves in our lives with the Mini & Me range of organic swaddles, blankets and bedding. Beautiful designs for the modern and classic lovers. For the little eaters Mini & Me has a full range of silicone dinnerware. Smash-proof, BPA free and FDA approved.
Isle of Eden
Auckland-based eyewear brand, Isle of Eden, blends contemporary design with sustainability. Its frames are handcrafted from plant-based acetate and free from petrochemicals. Glasses come in a unique recycled leather case, sourced from tannery waste. Customers can trade in old frames for new styles, which are either refreshed and resold, or utilised in affordable repair programs. Isle of Eden also collaborates with organisations like Future Post and Sustainable Coastlines, contributing to coastal litter reduction in New Zealand and beyond.
Grubbybub
Grubbybub’s products are designed to keep little grubs warm, dry and clean while benefiting from that all-important outdoor natural, sensory and messy play including outerwear and reinvented natural rubber gumboots. Its philosophy, ‘play again and again’, is applied to all materials and products.
Curvature
Curvature is a colourful, print focused, slow fashion label that is committed to true size inclusion and creating designs that will be worn for years to come. Everything is designed and made in Adelaide, South Australia. Curvature is committed to delivering high quality, ethically produced clothing.
