After retailers got a sneak peek at the recent Life Instyle Sydney, Mustard Made has released its twelfth colour.
Its first new colour release in 18 months, Butter is the latest colourway to join the range since the lifestyle brand launched its first lockers in 2018.
“Our mellow yellow, the butter to our mustard, she’s a fresh take on the classic French provincial colour,” co-founder and creative director, Becca Stern, says of the new tone.
“Butter may be a soft and cosy shade, but she packs a punch. Style Butter with Ocean for a coastal look, Poppy for a red-hot surprise or Mustard for a sunny, golden power couple. A little Butter warms a pastel lineup, while Butter and Sage is a classic culinary pairing for good reason.”
During the official launch of the new colour at Sean’s in Bondi, Stern said creating a new locker colour is a long, complex process.
“Over the years we’ve seen the trends emerge and somehow have been able to find the perfect shade at just the right time,” she explained.
“In the early days Blush, our take on millennial pink, became our stand-out best-seller. Then Sage absolutely shone and has gone from strength to strength, Lilac has been a lovely addition as pastels washed over our feeds and then we went bold with our beautiful Poppy red named after Jess’ daughter, bringing an unexpected pop of red to our rainbow.
“So here we are, placing our bets on the colour that will be flowing from drink bottles to handbags and onto bedroom walls and into living rooms this year. Trends, however, are only one part of our decision-making process.”
They wanted a dirty, pastel yellow that sits just right next to Mustard, giving the two yellows room to shine, Stern adds.
“But also a yellow that works gorgeously with each of our existing range of pastels and also a yellow that looks good in a kid’s room but is elegant and deep enough to work in a grown-up dining room.
“And also a yellow that can compete with our bright and bold Poppy and Navy. And also a yellow that feels beautiful and warm but doesn’t feel weird next our cooler tones. So you see, it was going to be easy,” she laughed.
Founded by sisters Becca and Jess Stern, Mustard Made creates colourful lockers for home, work and play. The new Butter colourway is available now across the brand’s signature range of lockers and accessories.
