The Bigjigs story began in Peter Ireland’s garden shed more than 35 years ago. Ireland hand crafted wooden jigsaws that he and wife Liz sold at craft fairs all over the UK. Today Bigjigs Toys operates from a central warehouse in Folkestone, Kent and distributes a diverse range of toys to more than 93 countries worldwide.
It recently expanded its popular offering with a new range of educational puzzles, each with a clever twist that sets them apart. This includes layered puzzles that teach children animal lifecycles and large floor puzzles that introduce concepts like counting from one to 20.
Bigjigs Toys’ layered puzzles reveal the lifecycle of animals like frogs and butterflies in four colourful layers. Layer by layer they reveal each stage of the animal’s lifecycle from an egg to a fully formed adult. Lift each layer to reveal a new lifecycle stage. Made from quality, ethically sourced wood.
Bigjigs 1-20 floor puzzle combines early childhood development with the fun of a puzzle. Match colourful wooden pieces in the correct order to complete the 1-20 puzzle that measures half a metre by 40cm. Each puzzle piece represents a new number illustrated by a colourful menagerie of animals and objects. A great resource for any classroom or home. They help young children develop basic numeracy and encourage them to talk about what they see for further learning.
The solar system floor puzzle builds into a cleverly illustrated circle. This 50-piece wooden puzzle offers a simple early education introduction to the sun, planets and other astronomical bodies. The puzzles also come with a double-sided fact and activity sheet.
Bigjigs Toys is distributed by Artiwood Australia. Its new puzzles will be available to order in April.
