The latest Elle And Sofia collection comprises of 15 different wallpaper designs. The celebrated design house is known for its signature style of ‘yesteryear with a twist’, and draws inspiration from everywhere there is a history, creating designs that are both timeless and elegant.
Two of the wallpapers from the collection were designed in collaboration with Sydney Living Museums, the Caroline Simpson Library and with the guidance of curator Michael Lech.
One of the designs, Kandos, comes from an original 1920s wallpaper by Morrisons. It has a beautiful fluidity and incorporates elements of the natural fauna of the day.
History is also interpreted in modern motifs and designs. From graphic wallpaper with an art deco slant, to a kaleidoscope wall where pattern rules over colour, the Ella and Sofia wall coverings are both diverse and practical.
“It’s got to be a little bit quirky, a little bit timeless and we have to have fun making it,” says creative director Karie Soehardi when asked what makes an Ella and Sofia design. “We don’t look at trends as such, it’s all about beauty and what we think will work in generations to come.”
Wallpaper is priced at $195.
