Working families, vegetarians and health-conscious eaters can rejoice this coming winter ―home-cooked, healthy comfort food will be ready to eat in a third of the usual time.
Fagor, the Spanish specialist pressure cooker brand, has released its new generation pressure cookers that showcase innovation, world-leading safety standards and sleek good looks.
But perhaps best of all, this brand-new take on a traditional form of cooking means we can have luscious bean soup (using the dried variety) in just 10 minutes, a whole chicken in 20 minutes and a risotto in just seven.
And while it cooks extremely quickly, and retains all the ingredients’ natural colour, flavour, vitamins and minerals, it is extremely userfriendly and energy efficient (saving 70 per cent of energy on traditional cooking methods).
Perhaps one of the most outstanding features of the Fagor Duo is its ease of use with safety being at a premium.
The safety-lock on the handle will not open until all the pressure has been released from the pan. And two independent over-pressure release valves ensure there is no pressure build-up. The pans have two pressure settings―15psi (for ingredients such as meat, potatoes) and 8psi (fish, vegetables)―plus a visual pressure indicator with an automatic pressure release system. Importantly, the Fagor Duo’s lid is securely locked into place and remains so until, at the end of cooking, the pressure is fully and safely released.
The reasons to use a pressure cooker are easy―they cook food from scratch in a fraction of the time of other methods while at the same time retaining all the food’s water-soluble vitamins and minerals. They also cook without the use of oil and they maintain the natural colour and flavour of all foods.
These all-stainless steel Fagor pans―with an aluminium encapsulated bottom have better heat distribution, easier cleaning and no leaching of aluminium into acidic foods such as tomatoes.
The pans can be used on all types of cooktop, including induction.
The Fagor Duo pressure cookers are available in several sizes and as a combi set of five pieces (two pans of four and eight litre capacity, a pressure cooker lid, a tempered glass lid (both lids fit both pans) and a stainless steel steamer basket). Retail prices range from $249 to $399.
