Marc Newson, often described as the most influential designer of his generation, has once again teamed with Noritake Australia to bring his acclaimed style to one of the most utilitarian items in any household.
Newson and Noritake have released a premium collection of industrial-style flatware that magically melds everyday with delicate, and beauty with efficiency.
Newson, who originally trained as a silversmith, has a deep knowledge of the art of instilling perfect weight and balance in an item of cutlery―elements that are as essential as shape and utility in a knife, a fork and a spoon.
The collection, previously used in Qantas first class and business cabins, is a stand out in terms of shape―each piece is defined by its broad, flat design with a distinctive groove in the handle of the knife and spoons. All pieces are rounded rather than angular and at complete ease in the hand.
Made by Noritake, to its exacting high standards in quality 18/10 stainless steel, each set comprises 16 pieces―a knife, fork, soup/dessert spoon and teaspoon―for four people.
The collection comes beautifully gift-boxed and retails for $175 for the 16-piece set.
