Traditional patterns, tactile shapes and beautiful craftsmanship are the hallmarks of authentic Japanese ceramics and this latest collection of tea cups, dipping dishes and noodle bowls has them all.
Noritake, Japanese tableware specialist for more than a century, has added a second edition to its contemporary Komon collection of eye-catching plates and bowls designed for everyday use.
Featuring the same intricate, traditional patterning as the originals, and in the same high quality porcelain, the new pieces include Japan’s classically shaped tea cups, dipping dishes and noodle bowls.
Gift boxed in sets of five―an ancient Japanese tradition whereby five is both important and fortuitous in terms of food and dining―the pieces feature the same raised geometric patterning, in beautifully restrained black and white, as the initial collection.
There are five traditional Japanese patterns featuring arrows, chequerboard, waves, dots and stylised hemp leaves and each set contains one of each.
The use of pattern on pattern within a table setting creates strong visual attraction while still allowing the food to star. The sets also work well when teamed with solid black or white plates and serving platters.
Each piece is microwave and dishwasher safe and comes in a giftboxed set of five. Retail prices range from $80 to $130.
