Producing hard-to-find sizes for large dining tables has taken The Big Tablecloth Company from a small, family owned, textile business to a highly successful tableware design group.
With 19 years industry experience, its online business launched in 2013.
“The Big Tablecloth Company started as a reaction to continued enquires for specialised sizes,” says owner Lara Simmons. “The demand has been fantastic, we are shipping to every state in Australia.”
“We decided to take it up a notch by using carefully sourced supply streams for our textiles, introducing beautiful weaves, colours and importantly, making sure they were durable enough to be washed daily, handle family wear and tear, dry quickly and be back on the table ready for the next occasion.”
Modern, open plan architecture has inspired a trend to larger dining tables for communal spaces. Tablecloths are making a return as both a functional and decorative piece, used for casual family dining, formal and alfresco entertaining, homework and kid’s craft.
“We’ve also been very popular in country and regional areas,” Simmons notes.
“The specialty cloths and napkins are designed to complement contemporary, classic, retro, industrial and eclectic interiors. They are really adaptable to all types of styling and large enough to have the appropriate amount of overhang to balance the overall table design.
“It’s a particularly beautiful colour range stemming from neutrals through to brights. We are finding clients are now buying a few at a time due to the affordability of the collection, she concludes.
The multifunctional fabrics and specialised sizes are big on style, affordability and durability with an extended range of napkins, table runners and placemats.
Tablecloths retail for $245 each.
