South Australian-based accessories label Lanamara, in collaboration with sustainable sea-shell supplier, Lumea, launches a handwoven basketry collection, just in time for summer.
It features a range of structured baskets, soft crochet carriers, cross-body bags and clutches in both small and large sizes.
The SEA Resort 23 collection carries unique motifs created from Paua Abalone and Mother of Pearl shells sustainably sourced from the South Pacific. Lumea shells are hand-graded by specially chosen pearl farmers and fishermen from ocean-dependent communities.
The collection is made from natural fibres such as straw and raffia which are organic, renewable and used in respect of the environment. They are expertly woven by hand from basketry cooperatives in Morocco, with artisans using a remarkable craftsmanship that has been traditionally passed from generation to generation.
The premium range of the collection is created in partnership with Doum For Women―the first Sedex certified basketry cooperative in Morocco―helping over 200 women artisans to be financially independent by providing them with a stable income in an ideal work environment.
Inspired by an Australian sense of optimism and relaxed glamour, Lanamara reflects founders, sisters Marika and Ilana’s travels, personal style and their influences of art, fashion, interiors and the natural world. The results are beautifully crafted, ethically produced bags and accessories that have a special story.
