CouchCoaster―the ultimate drink holder for your sofa was first launched at Ambiente 2018 in Frankfurt.
Back then, the British inventor, Barry Freeder from Hit Products said: “CouchCoaster is designed to support any drink on almost any sofa, answering the problem of spilt drink around the couch and offering a convenient resting place for your coffee, beer, juice or soda. It’s made from a weighted, silicone body which wraps neatly over an armrest and features an adjustable container to house drinking vessels of varying sizes”.
He has now sold hundreds of thousands of units around the world in countries spanning America to Japan, leveraging a mix of retailer and distributor relationship as well as direct sales. Following CouchCoaster’s success, Freeder launched ‘TableCoaster―the ultimate anti-spill drink holder’ after realising that the problem of spilt drinks was not just confined to the sofa or living room.
“TableCoaster’s secret is its micro-suction base which grips firmly to most smooth and flat surfaces but is also easily removed without leaving any residue. Its walled profile stops drinks toppling over making it ideal for use around the home or office,” he explains.
TableCoaster now makes up around 25 per cent of his global sales and has racked up some impressive online reviews.
Freeder’s future plans are to develop a range of innovative products to solve everyday problems. “I’m not going to be pigeon-holed into selling cup holders for the rest of my life so watch this space for more ‘hit products’ coming your way.”
