Koh Living is excited to introduce Melanie Hava’s new collection, Under the Sea, initially planned for a 2020 release.

“We felt the new collection was not quite fitting for the start of the Covid outbreak, so we pivoted to a different collection during that year,” says Koh Living co-founder, Tui Cordemans.

“Now we feel it’s the perfect time to release it given the increased support for Indigenous artwork. Furthermore, Australians are traveling around Australia more than ever and this collection represents everything that Australia is about.”

Koh Living has been working with the Aboriginal artist since 2018 at which time they released her popular Kinship artwork.

The collection includes some of Koh Living’s most popular products―candle holders, stainless steel water bottles, fine bone china mugs, recycled plastic bottle bags, Australian-made market lists and baubles. Prices range from RRP$7.95 to $39.95.

The paintings used in the Under the Sea collection have been influenced by the landscape of Hava’s home territory, the traditional land of the Rainforest Aboriginal people, found right next to the Great Barrier Reef.

Hava’s people are the Mamu. Her traditional lands are now internationally recognised as the Wet Tropics of Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef, both of which have World Heritage status. The lands and their stories are intertwined. For her people, Australia and the world, they are irreplaceable and priceless. Sharing and caring for our world heritage areas is very important to Hava. She is passionate about sharing her stories through her paintings.

Koh Living is a proud member of the Indigenous Art Code and gladly gives back to its artists and their communities.
