Record number of gift deliveries this Valentine’s Day
Same day delivery company, Sherpa, has logged a record number of Valentine’s Day deliveries on the back of its relationships with floristry and gifting stores across Australia.
Demand this year was unprecedented with more than 20,000 Valentine’s Day deliveries made, including 40 per cent of these deliveries on 14 February 2022—an increase of 32 per cent more than last Valentine’s Day. Incredibly, 14 February 2022 saw Sherpa deliver six Valentine’s Day gifts per minute.
From floristry and gifting to cupcakes, hampers and alcohol goods, more businesses than ever relied on Sherpa this Valentine’s Day to ensure their orders made it to their customers on time, same day.
While roses were the most popular gift, with Roses Only and other florists around Australia relying on Sherpa to make their deliveries, 2022 saw a huge increase in balloons, champagne, doughnuts, edible flowers and even the humble lamington.
Sherpa has revealed that Gosford in NSW is 2022’s most romantic city, with 500 romantics sending a record number of Valentine’s Day roses. Other areas with especially high Valentine’s Day deliveries this year were Cranbourne in Victoria, South Brisbane and Campbelltown in NSW.
“The demand for Sherpa’s same day delivery model continues to explode as more and more retailers partner with us to help solve their delivery needs,” says Duncan Brett, CEO of Sherpa.
“As we enter some kind of post-pandemic normality, the sentiment towards wanting goods immediately has remained very high. A whole new cohort of customers has experienced the convenience and value of getting their goods same day and they are clearly loving it.
“Consumer demand for immediate receipt of goods has completely exploded and that’s where Sherpa absolutely shines. We deliver same day—and only same day—for the biggest retailers across groceries, alcohol, technology, flowers and medication. We also work with SMEs looking to get their cupcakes, clothing, hampers, homewares or anything else to customers on the same day of booking,” adds Brett.
Founded in 2014 as an Aussie start up tech company, Sherpa recently commenced operations in New Zealand and continues to expand its network of business partners and its fleet of crowd-sourced drivers.
