The Big Design Trade postpones live event, launches digital campaign
The Big Design Trade, which was scheduled for 29 to 31 July at Meat Market in Melbourne, has been postponed to next year as the pandemic shows no signs of slowing down any time soon.
With NSW grappling with another Covid outbreak and other states closing their borders, Reed Gift Fairs and Life Instyle postponed their fairs in Melbourne last week and now the organisers of The Big Design Trade have followed suit, however, they have decided to move it to 2022.
“After careful consideration and ongoing monitoring of Covid-19 developments, it is with regret that we announce the postponement of our 2021 live event,” the organisers said in a statement.
“We want to express our concern for all individuals and businesses being impacted by the ongoing effects of Covid-19 throughout Australia.”
To replace the live show, The Big Design Trade is launching its 2021 digital catalogue on 29 July, showcasing all its current exhibitors including Blackinkk.
“A huge thank you to the passionate and wonderful people of The Big Design Trade, the best retail trade event in Australia,” says Blackinkk’s Varun.
“Your ability to attract the highest quality retailers is simply incredible. It’s a fantastic experience and opportunity for a small Aussie brand like Blackinkk to be recognised and placed next to some big-name iconic brands. Thank you for your passion, hard work and promoting the best in Australian design.”
Indeed, Capra Designs director, Bianca Lambert says it’s important to note that Big Design Group have done such important work in supporting and growing the small business design community.
“When the digital catalogue became available I didn’t hesitate to participate,” she says.
“Nothing will replace the energy of the show and the opportunity to meet stockists, however, there was too much uncertainty to commit this year and I’m sure many other vendors felt the same.
“I know many retail owners will not be traveling this year and this is a great opportunity to them give them a preview of what we’ve been up to. We are thankful for the opportunity to participate and to be able to support Big Design Trade,” Lambert adds.
The catalogue will be available online from 29 July to 12 August.
