Developing children’s skills while playing with toys that are safe are important requirements for many parents these days when they are looking for gifts for their little ones.
As a country that relies heavily on export―with a value of US$212.65 million in major markets such as the US, Japan and Hong Kong―it is important for Thai manufacturers to make toys that meet the highest import standards of countries around the globe.
The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) is currently working with Thai companies to strengthen their businesses and develop a wide range of quality, modern and creative products that meet customers’ needs.
While attending Bangkok International Gift Fair and Bangkok International Houseware Fair (BIG + BIG) 2017 last week, director-general DITP, Ministry of Commerce, Malee Choklumlerd, said increasing Thailand’s toy product export value is top priority and the trade fair was a great vehicle for toy makers to show off their ranges.
“BIG+BIH April 2017 serves as another important marketing channel for global buyers to meet with Thai producers and exporters,” she explained.
“High potential manufacturers of innovative educational toys that are both modern in design and safe for children are exhibiting. For example, Plan Toys Company, which won a Red Dot Design Award in Germany, is showcasing its toy products that are well designed and helpful for strengthening children’s visual motor skills.”
Another product on display was Art Kid Terch from Taksa Toys Company, a pyramid puzzle that challenges kids to create different shapes as well as portable baby beds that come with a net that make them suitable for travel, and several airplane and tank models were also on show.
“All in all these are the perfect toys to spark kids’ imagination,” Choklumlerd added.
