Villeroy and Boch to expand Merzig factory
production at villeroy and boch’s merzig factory will almost double after a spike in demand for high-quality porcelain stoneware.
by january next year manufacturing will increase from three million square metres to 4.3 million square metres of tiles with the company to invest six million euros.
the development, due to start this month and finish later this year, will involve a new plant, roller hearth kiln, rectifying plant, two glazing lines, a 5,000 tonne press and a state of the art surface refinement facility.
there is also a plan to hire 30 to 40 new recruits as part of the expansion, which comes on the back of solid and profitable growth of the business over the past few years due to the company’s focus on high-quality porcelain stoneware and industrial competitiveness.

several products manufactured at the merzig plant have won more than 10 international awards in the past three years.
