Fair Trade Network launches pop up shop
Coinciding with World Fair Trade Day on Saturday 11 May, the NSW Fair Trade Network is hosting a pop up shop showcasing Fair Trade products from around the globe.
Located at 394 Oxford St, Paddington from 4-19 May Sydney siders can purchase a wide range of products from companies with a strong commitment to Fair Trade.
“Many are yet to discover the range of Fair Trade hand crafted items that are created by artisans and workers in communities throughout the world,” says Kim Good of Import Ants and a Fair Trader of Australia. “The Fair Trade POPup Shop will allow people to not only buy but to hear the stories behind the products.
“One of the joys of importing Fair Trade products is seeing the difference that a living wage has on the people who make the products – to see their children in school and happy drives me to promote Fair Trade.
“I have been completely overwhelmed with the quality and variety of the products that all the companies involved in the Fair Trade POPup Shop have to offer. These days there is a Fair Trade alternative for far more than just coffee.”
The shop will be opening daily from 10am to 6pm and will have tastings of Fair Trade products including coffee, tea, chocolate and ice cream. There will be a giveaway of a jar of Oxfam’s hazelnut spread for the first 100 shoppers as well as a gift basket containing more than $1,000 worth of Fair Trade goodies for one lucky shopper that will be drawn on the last day. A host of Fair Trade events will also be held in the evening.
