VGM adds Romertopf brand to portfolio
German cookware brand Romertopf is now distributed in Australia by VGM International to complement its range of high quality European labels.
While the brand is already well known in Australia, VGM International has cut the consumer price to reignite interest and give more people the opportunity to try this unique method of cooking.
“Romertopf’s clay cookware is soaked in water for 10 minutes before use,” says Chris Peterson, VGM International national sales and marketing manager. “This keeps the moisture locked inside the pot while it roasts inside the oven, preventing meats like chicken and pork from going dry.
“Due to the properties of this moisture rich clay, the food will not burn, allowing up to 25 minutes of overtime in the oven without getting burnt. Another great advantage is that all food is cooked in its own juices, keeping all the flavour in the food and avoids the need for any extra fat, making it a healthier choice.”
Peterson believes Romertopf is being relaunched at the right time. “Australia has just gone into winter, making it the perfect time for roasts and oven bakes. The clay cookware is a perfect companion for all these types of meals and once customers see the benefits and qualities of the Romertopf, they will want to use it all year round.”
VGM International will showcase the brand at its Reed Gift Fair stand in Melbourne this August and use its rustic style and decorative lids to create a striking display. The wholesaler is looking forward to the trade show and expecting a more positive mood in the marketplace will give buyers a boost ahead of the festive season.
“We are hoping to see a greater consumer confidence that will bolster retailers’ outlook for the lead up to Christmas.”
