Etsy’s Christmas pop-up shops
Popular online retailer Etsy is staging a series of Christmas pop-up shops across Australia throughout November and December.
The events will be run by local teams in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth, giving them a community feel and allowing Etsy store owners to interact with their customers offline. Each event will showcase one-of-a-kind gifts from Etsy’s artists, designers and vintage curators.
“We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Etsy’s first ever community pop-up marketplace,” says Helen Souness, managing director of Etsy Australia. “Each marketplace will host an event unique to the area, connecting local makers with buyers in celebration of the handmade.”
In Sydney, Etsy Australia will be curating eight market stalls at The Rocks Village Bizarre every Friday night from 7 November to 19 December, offering a mix of food and local crafts in a festive atmosphere.
The Perth team has organised ‘Something Different’ from 7 November to 9 November at Leederville Arena. There will be over 40 market stalls and all products must be designed, created and produced in Western Australia. Also available will be craft workshops, food, live music and a bar.
“We’ve noticed a strong pattern of purchases for men and women in the lead up to the Christmas period,” says Souness. “Personalised accessories such as monogrammed jewellery and customised leather wallets remain among our top sellers in the fashion space, while home lovers should look out for brass and copper accented goods, including planters, lights, vases and other decorative objects. Handmade pottery and removable home decals also continue to trend well.”
