Albi to shift wholesale landscape with VGM takeover
In a move that will ruffle some feathers in the industry, home and kitchenware supplier Albi has acquired VGM, another key force in the kitchen sector.
The fusion of both companies will lead to a wider product offering as well as entry into fresh markets. Albi and VGM have proven track records within their respective market segments and share a vision to move forward as Australia’s ultimate kitchenware wholesaler.
Albi was launched 31 years ago and its portfolio includes brands such as Amalfi, Davis & Waddell and Rogue. In June last year the company was taken over by holding company Coast2Coast Capital Group with a view to using the business as a platform for further sector expansion including the acquisition of VGM.
VGM distributes a number of brands to the Australian market with a focus on premium kitchenware including Savannah, Andre Verdier, Zeal, Dexter-Russell, Woll and Gefu.
Albi managing director, David Danziger, believes the acquisition bolsters Albi’s position as the one stop shop of Australia’s home goods market.
“We’re excited to have John, Meagan and other members of the VGM family join us at Albi,” he says.
“As there is little in the VGM range that clashes with our existing products, we can only together grow in strength. Not only will there be continuity, but expansion across new and existing product categories.
“This provides a major growth opportunity for Albi customers who can reap the benefits of a diversified range and a brand to suit consumers at every level, all from the one supplier.”
Sydney based VGM will make the move to join Albi at its Melbourne base.
