Rug design firm Armadillo&Co will unveil its debut children’s range, Junior Collection, at an official launch party at Kids Instyle next month.
Known for their earthy textures and colours, the brand noticed a gap in the market for classic styles for kids.
“Sally [Pottharst – co-founder] and myself are both parents of young children – and decorating their spaces has been a battle to find items without ballerinas or rocket ships on them,” says Jodie Fried, co-founder. “We both agreed that little ones enjoy classic designs and deserve quality underfoot too as they are forever romping around shoeless. Our rugs were designed to answer that need – they are fun and timeless and fit perfectly alongside our Earth and Designer Collections.”
The duo waited until they had established their core ranges before creating for a younger demographic, but found the range came together organically because many of their clients were designing for children’s rooms.
Armadillo&Co’s Junior Collection is based on existing rug designs as well as some brand new looks with colours and sizes aimed at kids.
“Inspiration for the Junior Collection came about naturally from our travels, our families and also from our already established and iconic ranges such as our Flower Weave. We have introduced colour to complement the varying ages and stages of all children, from earthy, classic colours in Carnival Stripe to the stronger and more saturated, fun colours in our Braid Weave – Pinwheel. The introduction of our newest Flower Weave – Daisy, definitely feels like the ‘little sister’ to our popular Marigold and Dandelion Flower Weaves, which is perfect for nurseries and girl’s rooms,” explain Pottharst and Fried.
The Junior Collection has already received a positive response and is expected to gain more attention at its Kids Instyle launch at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton. Buyers can pick up a balloon and enter a competition to win one of the new rugs.
“We are extremely excited to watch the Junior Collection grow. We have several more siblings lined up to add to the Junior Collection and we are extremely excited to keep revealing more of the range over the coming seasons.”
