Aussie furniture brand adds 10 new pieces to its range
SP01 has unveiled its latest additions to its popular furniture collection, which was launched internationally in Milan last year.
Building upon the original collection―which was inspired by the Australian lifestyle with an international appeal―award-winning Milan-based studio Metrica has designed a range of 10 new pieces, introducing luxurious satin metallic finishes such as pewter and brass and satin black steel to the SP01 range.
When combined with marble, stained or lacquered ash wood the new products create a sense of depth and complexity, along with the fine sculpted details and rigorous form for which SP01 has become known.
“We tried to progress and improve while retaining the spirit of the original collection that has an international DNA,” says Metrica chief designer, Robin Rizzini.
“In our specific case the biggest evolution is towards storage as it was a missing subject in the collection, it was challenging.”
SP01 furniture has an instantly identifiable aesthetic that captures the spirit of the Australian lifestyle and combines this with artisanry and craftsmanship.
“SP01 is a novelty in the ever- challenging world of design furniture. There are new brands every year and all of them are willing to make a statement or to be remembered. The strength of SP01 is its specific positioning as a brand with an international collection but a very ‘local’ sensibility for quality, taste and craftsmanship,” adds Rizzini.
The expanded Holland collection draws inspiration from the Holland table, with the introduction of a desk, bench seat and console, using the same angle in the design of the legs, while the Max sofa from the original collection is now available in a corner version with a new corner cushion option that wraps the inside of the sofa.
Anita is now also available in a high-back version besides the low-back version and both come with a new, simple rod base that follows the contours of the chair and is reminiscent of a decorative 50s style.
