Aussie toy company marks 10 year anniversary
Children’s toy designer Tiger Tribe is reaching a milestone this month, celebrating its 10th year in business.
Co-founded by husband and wife team Naomi and Anthony Green, the Melbourne-based company started out in the family garage and is now a multimillion dollar business with products available in more than 700 retailers and employing 16 staff.
“We’re incredibly proud to reach this business anniversary milestone,” says Anthony. “And we are particularly pleased by the growth of our international business, which has doubled in the last 12 months and now represents more than 25 per cent of our total revenue.”
Naomi believes the brand is so successful because they know how to adapt and adjust to changing circumstances including the digital revolution that saw the rise of games, social media and apps for kids.
“When we started the business in 2007, our vision was to design great children’s gifts that were creative, engaging and affordable,” she explains. “We wanted to create things that our own kids would want to play with, products that tapped into a child’s imagination and sense of fun.
“The fact that we share a tenth birthday with the iPhone is not lost on us,” says Anthony. “We try to offer an antidote to screen time, which seems to occupy so much of children’s playtime. We listen to parents who worry about this. Our products are designed to ‘un-plug’ kids, to help them play more―to interact with each other, and drive their own real creative experiences.”
Tiger Tribe will be launching 30 new products at this weekend’s Reed Gift Fair in Melbourne. Also, to kick off the anniversary it will run a mega giveaway.
