Australia’s first milk cotton baby jumpsuit range hits the market
new kids wear brand escargot has launched a range of jumpsuits made exclusively with milk cotton.
the product is the first of its kind to be released on the australian marketplace which, according to director kate zarboch is exactly what the brand was looking for.
“we were looking for a new and unique fabric for our first collection,” she says. “we were lucky enough to find the milk cotton fabric and the supplier was willing to give us a kids wear exclusive on the fabric.”
milk cotton is made by knitting the protein in milk with cotton, which makes the fabric incredibly soft. it is also sustainable as milk is always available.
“since egyptian times we have known the health benefits of milk for the care of our skin and for a newborn or young baby there is no better way to nurture their skin.”
to keep with the milk theme, the jumpsuits are packaged in milk cartons making it a fun and quirky gift and an eye catching display on store shelves.
the jumpsuits have been a hit with retailers especially at last week’s kids instyle event. zarboch has been busy trying to keep up.
“we just had a phenomenal response. i’ve been on the phone this morning so we can organise some more fabric to make more stock because we’re just about to sell out. i couldn’t have really comprehended the reaction we were going to get with gift stores as well as fashion boutiques.”
escargot will expand its milk cotton range for summer because of demand. the jumpsuits hit stores in september and will be available on the brand’s website when it launches at the end of the month.
