Capra Designs celebrates latest range with pop-up shop
Just two months after finding the perfect location, Melbourne plant accessories brand Capra Designs has held its first pop-up shop, celebrating its latest collection, Rocky Road.
Capra Designs co-founder Bianca Lambert says the Rocky Road range of screen printed textiles, resin plant pots and plant stands were designed with the festive season in mind, making it the perfect range to showcase in the lead up to Christmas.
“It’s a celebration of colour, life, balance, fun and relaxation,” she says. “We want our products to sit somewhere between fun and playful, and timeless and sophisticated.”
The collection was on show at the Rocky Road at Memphis Projects four-day pop-up shop, which also featured prints and cards from botanical illustrator Elizabeth Barnett, ceramics from Daisy Cooper, jewellery by Champ.Co and indoor plants. This is the first time Capra Designs has operated a physical store (it is available online and has stockists around the country) and Lambert says it was an opportunity to connect with both customers and the community of makers she is part of.
“Because our product range has grown so much with this collection we wanted the opportunity to showcase everything in the one space. In the last two years we have met many other artists/designers/makers and also wanted to find a way to showcase our complementary products together.”
Lambert had the idea to take Capra Designs offline for about six months, but it was only two months ago that she found a space that excited her—a warehouse studio in Abbotsford.
“One of the things that excited us about this location is that it’s central and easy to get to but it is destinational, so it will never be crowded, making it a super pleasant shopping experience even throughout the Christmas rush.
“There are no guarantees on the outcome but the process is a really creative one. I love the opportunity to transform a space and showcase products.”
In the future, Lambert says she would love to branch out with a permanent Capra Designs location. “I would absolutely love to get to that point—it’s not in the immediate plans but a flagship store would be beautiful.”
