australian kitchenware brand dreamfarm has received an australian international design award for its garject garlic press. coupled with the award, the garject was also voted design awards best in category (consumer).
presented by good design australia, more than 200 australian and internationally designed products were judged against a set of criteria focusing on innovation, form, function, quality, safety and sustainability.
dreamfarm managing director alex gransbury is proud of the achievement and says winning an australian international design award is extremely difficult.
“these awards are unlike other design awards, the judges actually test and thoroughly use the products nominated,” he explains. “it was a huge pat on the back for us to not only win an award, but to also take out the best in category in a field with much bigger companies was unreal – and now our family and friends finally think we’re not half bad either.
“for our australian retailers it’s fantastic that we’ve been able to rubber stamp our brand’s promise – simply clever products that are not only useful but have never been done before.” the dreamfarm garject – a garlic tool that presses unpeeled garlic and automatically scrapes itself clean before ejecting the garlic peel into the bin – is the first product the company has entered into the australian international design awards.

over the past three years dreamfarm has also won three red dot design awards including a best of the best red dot design award.
winners of the 2012 australian international design awards were announced on friday 20 july at the city recital hall angel place in sydney, with the top accolade awarded to james cameron’s deepsea challenger research submersible which was designed, engineered and manufactured in sydney.
