East meets west with Botanical Signature’s sustainable skincare
When Sydney brand Botanical Signature launched to trade at Life Instyle Melbourne this year, visitors discovered a range of natural products that look just as good on store shelves as they feel on the skin.
Started by Asako Takada in 2015, Botanical Signature offers a collection of skincare, bath products and herbal teas that celebrate the beauty of nature. They are made from natural ingredients sourced from farmers around the world, who are committed to environmentally-friendly practices.
“Our brand is designed for people who seek genuine, healthy, ethical, quality skincare and wellness products that are simply good for the body,” says Takada. “We create a balance of comfort and timelessness, finding holistic beauty in our every day.”
The products also celebrate Japanese culture, with traditional washi paper used to wrap each item. The paper is handcrafted in a small Japanese town using traditional methods, which elevates a face cream or body oil into a luxury gift.
“Culture is blended throughout our products with a combination of eastern and western concepts,” says Takada.
“We invite our customers to feel the texture of the washi then unwrap our products with a unique but somewhat nostalgic experience that sets ourselves apart from other more mainstream brands.”
Takada says creating a Botanical Signature product can take years, but a desire to challenge what’s possible keeps pushing her forward. “I love the process of making,” she says. “I usually focus on components, such as ingredient quality, which results in a lengthy process of finalising a product.
“I like to visualise each product as a story with a historic background. This is the most thrilling stage where our concept can be interpreted in different ways. Sometimes it can take years to achieve but it is definitely worth it.”
Botanical Signature launched a new tea flavour, ‘Matcha Moments’, and gift packs for Christmas at Life Instyle Melbourne, which are available now.
