Good Design celebrates 60th birthday at Opera House
Now in its 60th year, the Good Design Awards is going all out and celebrating with an awards ceremony at the iconic Sydney Opera House.
Promoting excellence in design and innovation, the awards are recognised by the World Design Organisation (WDO) as Australia’s peak international design endorsement program.
Dr Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia says with the state the world is in today, (good) design is now more important than ever.
“Good design has the transformative power to create better and more efficient products, services and spaces,” he says.
“Our world needs good design now more than ever. Ultimately, we see design contributing to a better society and a more sustainable and prosperous world.”
The awards recognise designs in more than 30 categories including best new products, social innovation, design entrepreneurship and of course the top prize, Good Design Award of the Year.
As part of its 60th anniversary celebrations, a number of new awards and initiatives have been added to acknowledge the expanding role of design in helping shape a better, safer and more prosperous world. These include the Better World Award, Good Design Team of the Year Award and an Indigenous Designer Award.
Entries for the awards are now open and will close on 9 March 2018. The Good Design Showcase Exhibition runs from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 May 2018 at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay as part of Vivid Sydney.
