Healthier living inspires launch of Soda Press Co
The Soda Press Co has launched to trade in an effort to bring a lower sugar, natural and organic soda syrup to market.
Inspired by the resurgence of home soda machines, a growth in home entertaining and the amount of artificially flavoured products on the market, Cameron Romeril decided the time was right to launch a positive product for the food category.
“Most importantly we had to create clean, interesting and flavour intense syrups,” he says. “The next challenge was to reduce the organic sugar without adding stevia, agave and other less desirable substitutes. We created a unique brewing process that allows more flavour and 30-50 per cent less sugar than traditional cordials. The final part was to find excellent quality natural and organic ingredients, of which around 95 per cent is Australian and New Zealand sourced.”
Soda Press Co’s first range is based on market research of popular flavours, which lead to old fashioned pink lemonade and ginger ale making the first collection. Two other flavours, blueberry and lime, and liquorice and lemongrass were created to try something new.
The brand has launched the product in the gift market because of the boom in gourmet food products in the sector. Romeril says food gifts are easily personable, sociable and universally appealing.
Launched at the August Home & Giving Fair, Soda Press Co was a hit with retailers and also won the Best Small Stand award.
“We were totally blown away by the impact of the branding on retailers as well as their overwhelming positive feedback on the flavours. This has been a long, expensive, and at times darn difficult journey to get the product where it’s at but we’re very happy,” he adds.
“We are very focused on our vision for Soda Press Co’s future so nurturing the brand and maintaining our commitment to product integrity is key – as well as developing more boundary pushing flavours.
“We are also looking further afield and as such have been busy locking down trademarks and patenting our bespoke brewing process. We have some interesting releases within the next few months. It’s definitely adding to the mountain of work but its work we love.”
