Arts and crafts are becoming popular again, for both adults and children, which was a great excuse for Hands On Workshop to add more products to its expanding portfolio.
Paper craft supplies like masking washi tapes and rubber stamps for journaling, card making and scrapbooking will now be available from the supplier, which sells craft kits, tools and accessories from Japan.
“Decorative masking tape, or ‘washi tape’ and cute decorative rubber stamps are very popular with paper crafters and fans of journaling,” says Nicole McCarthy, owner of Hands on Workshop.
“We thought it was time to stock items not easily found outside of Japanese websites. Even the Japanese sites which automatically convert to English are quite hard to understand and navigate.
“With the rise and rise of tech for calendars and note taking there is an ‘equal and opposite reaction’ with people wanting to write and play with colour and pattern in dairies, journals, card making and scrapbooking”, she adds.
“Writing things down, using pretty tape and stamps to highlight notes in journals or scrapbooks is a ‘mindful’ exercise which people really enjoy.”
Masking or ‘washi’ tape is a cult stationery product which has a myriad of uses from taping up tech cords to making simple gift tags. Rubber stamps are quick embellishments for cards or scrapbook designs.
The Sunny Sunday Masking Tape brand has a pretty French, vintage vibe. Knoop Works rubber stamps have a hand drawn look, and Osco Labo rubber stamps have a bold graphic icons.
“The Japanese are renowned for their love of paper and stationery, it’s the one category we hadn’t really explored. We have a distributor in Japan who sells product lines through Asian online stores, so we’ll just keep adding new brands and products to our range.”
