New Aussie accessories range made out of plastic lids launches
Australian company Explore+Engage+Enjoy (e3) has recycled plastic bottle lids that would have otherwise ended up in landfill, into a new collection of unique bag tags and keyrings.
By purchasing products that have been made from recycled plastic, Australians are helping keep plastic out of landfill and our oceans, e3 founder Carlo Lowdon says.
“Our first order of 8,000 keyrings will remove roughly 96kg or 32,000 bottle caps of single-use plastic waste from entering landfill and as each keyring is recyclable, it keeps the circular economy going,” he explains.
At e3’s family-operated company in regional Victoria, the lids are melted and poured into reusable molds, creating unique keyrings that can be used as luggage identifiers, bag tags, keyrings and more.
The cute rPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) bag tags come in a range of Australian and exotic animals including koalas, kangaroos, turtles, platypuses, little penguins, fur seals, lions and elephants and there are multiple designs and colour schemes to choose from.
e3 also works with Lids4Kids Australia―a charity that rescues plastic bottle lids from landfill―to repurpose plastic into sustainable, recycled products that benefit the community and environment.
“Studies have shown eating just one piece of plastic is enough to kill a sea turtle. Each one of our keyrings takes four plastic lids to make, so each keyring is helping keep turtles swimming free from harm in our beautiful oceans,” Lowdon adds.
The new range is available now.
