Papier d’Amour pops up in the city
Paper themed Double Bay store, Papier d’Amour, has launched its first pop up shop at the MLC Centre in Sydney’s CBD.
Customers will find Kate Spade products, leather goods from New York, paper placemats, paper decorations, children’s gifts, stationery boxes and cushions. There will also be weekly demonstrations on Thursday evenings.
“The pop up store is focusing on bringing the unique to the city,” says Phoebe Gazal, director. “It features creative workspaces and our lovely Bookcloth range. We also have our featured artists – Emma who has a lovely exhibition of mandala prints and Samantha our paper artist. It is also smaller than our store in Double Bay but has a similar product mix, [though] not exactly the same.”
Papier d’Amour’s pop up store is open now and will run until July 13. Gazal says the initiative is about providing a retail experience to a different group of consumers.
“We have always wanted to test the city market to see if customers like what we have to offer. We thought that it was a great opportunity for the working clientele to enjoy our wares who can’t make it to our store in Double Bay. We do have a great online store but it obviously doesn’t give you the same experience of discovering a treasure in a bricks and mortar store,” she explains.
“I think retailers are testing the waters and experimenting more with what works for their brand.”
Gazal and her team are considering holding another pop up for the Christmas season.
