Royal baby exits hospital in aden + anais blanket
aden + anais’ jungle jam swaddling blankets are on back order in the UK after The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge chose to use the birds print from the collection to swaddle baby Prince George Alexander Louis on his exit from hospital last week.
Founder Raegan Moya-Jones, an Australian based in the US, was unaware the British royal couple had selected her product because she hadn’t sent anything knowing they cannot accept gifts.
“When I first heard it from a co-worker, I thought someone had just photo shopped the image,” she says. “When I found out it was real, I was completely surprised and delighted that the couple chose to debut the Prince in aden + anais. It really is an honour.”
The blanket’s royal appearance has had a similar impact on consumer interest as outfits worn by The Duchess with customers going to great lengths to secure the product.
“Our site did crash from all the visitors. We are sold out in the UK and already have thousands of units of the Jungle Jam on back order.
“People in the UK are now buying the Jungle Jam pack from the US and Australia because we still have stock in those countries and they are happy to pay the crazy high shipping fees just to have the product,” she adds.
Jungle Jam swaddle collection is available in packs of two and four prints. Made of 100 per cent cotton muslin, their light open weave makes them breathable to prevent overheating. Moya-Jones says they are larger than most blankets which means they can also be used as a breast feeding or pram cover.
While the exposure of having the most photographed baby in the world use an aden + anais blanket has created interest in some of the brand’s newer markets, Moya-Jones says her goal remains the same.
“We set out to create great quality products that are practical, useful and stylish. Hundreds of thousands of mums all around the world have embraced aden + anais over the past seven years. It is a nice bonus and genuinely a wonderful honour that The Duchess also chose to use one of our products on her baby, but for all of us here at aden + anais it is business as usual, and that is to continue making great products for all the ‘regular’ mums out there.”
