Royal Selangor debuts Star Wars collection
To celebrate the impending release of the new movie, Royal Selangor has launched a Star Wars range in partnership with The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia, whose portfolio also includes the Marvel series such as Thor and the Avengers.
“We are indeed fortunate to own such wonderful stories and characters that our consumers love and have grown our portfolio of brands and stories to include Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars,” says Hiroki Horino, general manager of retail and licensing for The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia. “We are delighted to now present the Star Wars collection by Royal Selangor.”
This collaboration will see Royal Selangor introducing Star Wars-themed pewter merchandise and accessories over the next three years. Star Wars is one of the most successful movie franchises and has millions of fans all over the world.
“Star Wars has made a huge cultural impact on at least two generations of movie goers,” says Yong Yoon Li, executive director of Royal Selangor International. “It is an honour to be working with Disney Southeast Asia to immortalise the characters from this incredible franchise and to share it with the fans.”
The collection includes Darth Vader, Han Solo and Princess Leila, which are available in limited edition 8-inch figurines, as well as Yoda, Stormtrooper and Boba Fett, which are a bit smaller at 4 inches. Accompanying the figurines is a diorama which captures the rancor monster in his pit rearing to attack Luke Skywalker―a classic scene from Return of the Jedi.
Other collectibles include a pair of Stormtrooper and Boba Fett tumblers, Darth Vader and C-3PO mugs, Millennium Falcon and snowspeeder shaped USB flash drives, a Death Star trinket box and cufflinks.
Besides Australia, Royal Selangor also has exclusive distribution rights for Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and the UK.
