Salt&Pepper teams with MasterChef judge for Facebook initiative
kitchenware brand salt&pepper will launch a facebook competition with the help of celebrity chef george calombaris to encourage interaction with consumers.
the initiative asks fans of the cookware products to upload a photo of themselves making their own dish using or served on salt&pepper products and incorporating mystery ingredients listed on facebook by calombaris. he will select his favourites and ask fans to vote.
there are four prizes up for grabs including the chance to win lunch and a cooking class with calombaris himself. consumers who don’t post a recipe can enter by purchasing a salt&pepper product from participating stores.
given calombaris’ role as ambassador for salt&pepper, the brand says it’s only natural he be chosen as the face of the competition which runs from july 1 to august 31.
“this year saw the announcement of george calombaris as salt&pepper’s cookware ambassador, so it was only natural we collaborate with him on this unique initiative,” says nicola dexheimer, global marketing manager. “george is one of our biggest fans, regularly contributing to the salt&pepper facebook page with his expert cooking tips, advice and sharing easy and fun recipes.
“we want our fans to be able to interact with george on a more personal level and showcase their culinary skills in an interactive and fun way. with cooking being so popular and masterchef about to hit the airwaves, we wanted to inspire people to get in the kitchen and cook.”
the brand believes facebook is a great tool for encouraging consumers to interact and learn from each other.
“we want our facebook community to get involved and interact with each other in a positive way. we have found that our fans love to share tips for styling and cooking tips and recipes, so why not get rewarded for them? we hope to provide followers with a bunch of new recipes, techniques, cooking tips and product information to arm them with the best tools to cook at home and of course we want to spread the salt&pepper love wide and far.
“facebook is very important for salt&pepper. we want to engage with our consumer and not only provide tips but learn from them as well and allow them to share with our like minded people. it also allows our fans to share and show off. we learn so much from our facebook community and that knowledge feeds into product design and other communications initiatives,” she adds.
