Sydney shopping centres team up with charity for toy giveaway bonanza
This month more than $45,000 of toys and games can be won in one of Australia’s biggest Toy-riffic giveaways run by Broadway Sydney, Rhodes Waterside and Birkenhead Point Outlet shopping centres.
In partnership with Hasbro, the competition will run in each centre and across their official Facebook pages with daily, weekly and monthly toy prizes up for grabs including Hasbro toy packs worth over $500.
For every entry received, the centres will donate $1 to children’s education charity, The Smith Family, to support its Toy and Book Appeal to help deliver 36,000 toys and 24,000 books to children in need nationwide.
“With Christmas just around the corner, what better way to start ticking off gift lists than with a giant toy giveaway,” says Marina Ross, Rhodes Waterside marketing manager.
“All of our centres want to give back to our community and have a little Toy-riffic fun in the process for a great cause. We’re proud to be partnering with The Smith Family and raise much needed funds for the toy and book appeal.”
Birkenhead Point will host Birken-Heads, a life-size Guess Who game that will be moved around the centre through November, while Rhodes Waterside will feature a life-size Jenga, Connect 4 and Twist N Turn. Both Rhodes and Broadway Sydney will have guest appearances from popular Hasbro characters including Mr Potato Head and Optimus Prime.
“We’re delighted that Mirvac is supporting The Smith Family’s Toy and Book Appeal this year,” says Rosie Simpson, The Smith Family’s head of fundraising.
“It’s only Christmas when we share it and this gesture of goodwill ensures that all Australian families can come together at Christmas to share gifts and celebrate.”
Entries are free online at toyrifficgiveaway.com.au and entrants will also go into the national draw to win one of five $2,000 Hasbro toy packs.
