Top five trends in outdoor settings
With summer still in full swing, furniture and homewares supplier Satara shares its top tips on how you can help your customers create a vibrant, tropical setting using indoor and outdoor furniture pieces including day beds, baskets and cushions.
COLOUR
No matter what your personality type―colourful and creative, shy and serene―there are some specific rooms in your house where you can experiment with colours, texture and fabrics. The outdoor area provides the perfect creative space to be able to stretch your style this season.
Rather than conservative neutrals, 2016 will see the outdoor area become a little sprightlier with colour application. Give your room an electro-jolt with an oversized, statement stripe in bold colours and designs.
PILLOW TALK
Cushions are big this season and can be used to replace traditional outdoor seats and lounges to create a casually tropical zone. Use summery highlights like stripes and nautical treatments that will be sure to add a little unexpected intrigue to your outdoor space.
OCCASSIONAL CHAIR
The outdoor area gives you flexibility to add dramatic occasional chairs that will work as statement pieces to be mixed and matched. Key finishes such as mesh, marble, copper and brass work beautifully against a muted colour palette and will give the outdoor setting a hefty dose of theatrical flair. Selecting occasional chairs with interesting materials such as wood, mesh and iron will create a bold look.
DECORATING DAY BEDS
A day bed provides the perfect opportunity to display gold, silver or bronze cushions, or add fairy lights or garlands to its frame. Enjoy a little metallic magic using bronze, silver and gold applications against bright white.
BASKETS
Baskets will introduce depth, warmth and elegant intrigue to your outdoor space. Spring weave wire baskets are clever enough to be functional, and beautiful enough to be simply decorative. The lemon and coral versions are great for a summery pop of colour and perfect pieces to use as a bread bowl in an outdoor table setting.
