Independence Studios (IS) has announced former The Hoyts Corporation executive, Linda Hickey, has taken up the new role of general manager with the company.
Hickey has also held general manager and marketing roles with The World Movies Channel and Sony Music.
“The opportunity to work with two highly regarded industry professionals such as James and Ian, combined with an amazing range of gifts, homewares and specialty toys, is an enviable position,” she says. “I feel very privileged to have been welcomed into the team in the newly created position of general manager. The company has achieved so much in its 27 years and is admired as a leader in the industry both locally and internationally.
“As a dedicated general manager for the business, I can concentrate on working in the business whilst providing management support for James and Ian to concentrate on the business of future development and entrepreneurial endeavours.”
IS founder and owner, James Smail, says the new general manager role will help the company achieve growth.
“This new position of general manager represents our continued investment in IS towards an exciting future of new growth, new initiatives and expansion,” he adds. “We are delighted to welcome Linda into the IS family and look forward to Linda steering the team and providing support to me so that I can concentrate on some exciting expansion plans both locally and internationally.”
