AGCA announces National Thinking of You Week
The third week of June has been designated National Thinking of You Week by the Australian Greeting Card Association (AGCA), to remind Australians of the value of greeting cards.
Ron Thorpe, AGCA president, says the week will promote the importance of greeting cards as a way of connecting with family and friends.
“We aim to create a wave of love, caring and happiness across the nation by encouraging people to buy and send greeting cards to their friends, family and loved ones,” he says.
The association hopes the initiative will help drive sales for greeting card retailers, not only during the week but throughout the promotional period. With support from the Australian Newsagents Federation and Australia Post, Thorpe says it will be beneficial for retailers to embrace the event.
“There are many ways you can use this campaign to drive traffic and sales to your store. We’d encourage you to organise events and promotions in your local community and promote your involvement through local media.
“We have created a special range of support materials in the National Thinking of You Week tool kit. This is available to you right now at www.agca.org.au and includes POS and in-store promotional materials, ideas for events and activities to help you drive traffic and sales, and resources to help you promote your involvement locally.”
The AGCA will run its own PR campaign but recommends retailers get involved by partnering with local businesses, schools and charities, or running a children’s greeting card design competition.
