Corban & Blair buys Sydney bookbinding business
Stationery design company, Corban & Blair, has acquired Australian manufacturing firm, Boundrite, to retain local jobs and skills.
The bookbinding business became available when its owners decided to retire. Purchasing Boundrite seemed a natural progression for Corban & Blair as it was a large supplier.
“I feel quite strongly about trying to keep as much as we can in Australia particularly high quality, and I think Australia’s competitiveness can be with… quality and design and the care that it takes to get there, and I think that’s what our competitive edge is really and doing it in a contemporary way,” says Gillian Corban, managing director, Corban & Blair.
Ownership of Boundrite will help Corban & Blair to offer its bespoke clients more creative solutions and greater control of production timeframes.
“We can have a different approach to it that’s about customer service as well as finding solutions. What companies like [Boundrite] do, because they’re manufacturing, they sort of engineer ideas to make things work. We do very complicated presentations on boxes… that are very specialised, so it allows us to do that and be quite close to the customer.”
