Aromababy creator finalist in business awards
the founder of the world’s first research based natural and organic skincare for both mum and baby has been named a finalist in the 2011 bio-oil ausmumpreneur awards.
catherine cervasio created aromababy 17 years ago after the birth of her first son and has since taken the business global while also mentoring other women in business.
presented by connect2mums the awards honour the success of mums in business and recognise the women who combine motherhood with their own innovative enterprises.
cervasio says there have been many benefits to starting her own company.
“launching and growing aromababy into a global business has allowed me to work around my two beautiful sons,” she says.
“my eldest son beau (now 17) was the reason i started the brand all those years ago. he [and his brother jacob] are keen athletes. between them i have been able to watch on and cheer at so many of their important sports events so, running my own business has been a wonderful way to combine work with my first love, being a mum.
“i’ve also visited some really amazing places for business including the maldives, miami, shanghai and dubai for example.”
for any mums thinking of following a similar path cervasio has some advice.
“do your homework – thoroughly research your idea for a product or service. with the internet, these days many people have the same or similar ideas and it’s important to check first, that your business idea is not already in action.
“also, be sure to switch off and set aside special time for your partner, children and other special people in your life. the last thing you want is to become a successful businesswoman only to have missed your children growing up, for example,” she adds.
